When it comes to managing notifications in Slack, there are several ways to customize your preferences. Adjusting notification preferences can help you stay focused and avoid distractions during important work hours.
To adjust your notification preferences, click on your workspace name in the top left corner of the Slack window and select Workspace Settings. From there, click on Notifications to see your notification options. You can choose to receive notifications for all new messages, direct messages, mentions, or nothing at all. You can also adjust notification settings for individual channels.
Slack also offers a snooze icon, which allows you to temporarily snooze notifications when you need to concentrate. To use the snooze icon, click the bell icon atop your channel bar and choose a time or set your own custom interval.
Another useful feature for managing notifications in Slack is the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature. Think of DND as a pre-configured snooze function. You can set automatic recurring DND hours to avoid after-hours interruptions. Your coworkers will see when you’re in DND mode and know not to expect a response right away.
To set up DND mode, click on your workspace name in the top left corner of the Slack window and select Do Not Disturb. From there, you can set a daily DND schedule to systematically unplug and enjoy your off-time by pausing notifications in Slack.
